THIS IS AN OLD & RARE ANTIQUE TRANSFER PLATTER
Beautiful antique / Victorian c mid 1800’s (1851-1866) greyish blue over cream transfer generously sized ironstone serving / meat platter
Featuring a scenic English ‘Abbey’ structure, landscaped gardens and figures walking by the stream in front; complete with wonderful grey floral foliage border patterns with cartouches containing scenic English architecture
A signature piece both for serving or on the wall… especially engaging mixed together with other antique collected transfer ware dishes!
Platter is octagonal in shape and back stamped with cartouche back stamp, pattern name & maker marks:
IRONSTONE
‘ABBEY’
P & B (POWELL & BISHOP)
Numbered with embossed ‘16’ and another mark is also embossed
There are two other faint / partial stamps remaining which are illegible
17.5” L x 14.5” W x 2” H
In good antique condition for its age; as found
There are glazing blemishes and surface crazing, predominantly on the back, as expected and commensurate with age and previous use through 150-165 years
