ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WATERCOLOUR PORTRAIT PAINTING | **DELIVERY INCLUDED IN CANADA
This is an antique watercolour portrait painting of a Victorian or possibly pre-Victorian lady, ‘Catherine Ann Hallock’ | *background may be oil paint
An authentic family heirloom portrait, beautifully executed capturing subject from this time period in a formal seated pose with true to life detailing and facial expression.
Wonderful faded yet saturated hues here and intricate detailing with stunning high relief wood and plaster antique frame, oval with leaf and floral design
There is a hand written notation on the back paper, presumably by a relative, which identifies the woman in the portrait as Catherine Ann Hallock and reads as follows:
“Catherine Ann Hallock sister of William B Hallock (married Borden had son Elias)
Cousin Will was grandfather
John Hallock’s brother i think.
Making Katherine and Elinor cousin
If I’m wrong - the Hallock geneology book will have the information.
Think we called William B - ‘cousin’ - no - uncle I think now.
I do not remember him very well
But I do remember cousin ‘Will G’ who was a doctor - as well as this great - uncle William B - a doctor”
13.5” H x 9.75” W
In very good antique condition, as found; note some older blemishes to antique frame commensurate with age, these are not structural and the frame is intact
*see photos | art is ready to hang
