Hutchins was an English born artist who immigrated to Canada and painted in Winnipeg and the Canadian Rockies from approximately 1907 - 1912; he became known for historical paintings of Lower & Upper Fort Garry, whose National historic site was established by The Hudson Bay Company in 1831
