This is a very rare antique round footed bowl with beautiful hand painted Asian scenes and gorgeous still vibrant colours; in the ‘TAMERLANE’ pattern by renowned pottery J & M P BELL SCOTLAND, c 1880
This piece is under marked J & M P BELL, ‘Tamerlane’
J & M P BELL was established in 1840 in Glasgow Scotland and is known to be the most prolific of any Scottish Pottery.
The successful Victorian-era Scottish pottery company was known for producing and exporting earthenware. After the death of the original partners, the limited company became extremely successful characterized by innovation, soaring production and a strong export trade to the Far East and other regions.
Some crazing to original glaze and areas of discolouration all commensurate with age
