Hand made antique firkin / pail / bucket formed from shaped or bent wood that is bound with two slim metal bands & has original black paint
Two ear shaped wooden handles are carved on each side
This is a beautiful artifact that once may have had a lid & stored sugar or dry goods or possibly carried water or someone’s lunch!
Lovely on open shelves in the kitchen or with branches or greens
*bucket has a nice flat bottom and allows for a vessel to be placed inside with water
Over time the finish has aged to a beautiful soft black patina; surface imperfections & wood splits indicate age and confirm it is a hand crafted vessel as does the absence of glue or staples eg: metal rim is secured with very old nails rim
8” H x 9.5” W at handles | 5.75” D at opening & 8” D at base
In good antique condition, as found; dry and odour free; some minor imperfections to
surface & wood splits which are commensurate with age & hand crafted piece *see photos
