A Rarely seen original floral still life by Dutch / Canadian artist Egbert Oudendag

This is an original midcentury modern still life floral oil executed on artist’s board, likely masonite panel primed with grey as Oudendag was known for.

This piece has a custom midcentury frame with an exposed inside band of coral velvet and a painted wooden frame.

A striking arrangement of beautiful exotic florals in wonderfully rich pinks that stand out against a subtle grey background | Signed by Dutch / Canadian artist Egbert Oudendag (1914-1998)

Oudendag was born in The Netherlands and studied for several years in Amsterdam, he then moved to Canada in 1949 and to Vancouver in the early sixties. He painted mostly
‘en plein air’, with subject matter including many shorelines, beaches, scenic coastal landscapes and structures as well as still life, nudes and portraits.

He worked primarily in oil and is known for works which are ‘distinctly minimalist and sparse, yet striking and subtle’. This piece most definitely reflects all of these characteristics.

16.5” W x 24” H x .75” D framed dimensions
In original vintage condition, as found; some light wear to exposed velvet mat & wooden frame | Ready to hang ***please see photos
