ANTIQUE FRENCH TOLEWARE VANITY / TEA BOX
A sweet elliptical shaped toleware box with a hinged lid; box is hand painted with folk art flowers and has a small loop toggle on the lid; described as ‘French’ at point of purchase
Shape appears to have Chinoiserie influences which was common for toleware pieces
I am not entirely sure what this box was for, but most likely was for tea or vanity top storage
The inside is clean and remarkably well preserved
5.25” W x 2.5” D x 3” H
In excellent antique condition, as found; with imperfect chipped paint patina
commensurate with age; hinge is working and box opens and closes well
